WEST OAHU WHALE WATCH TOUR
See Humpback Whales Off The West Coast Of Oahu
Every winter thousands of humpback whales leave their home and primary food source in the cold Alaskan waters to migrate south down to Hawaii. The waters in Hawaii are not ideal for hunting, as humpback whales generally eat krill. The reason so many whales travel here during the winter is to mate, and also to give birth to new calves. The warm and protected waters of Hawaii offer a safe environment for humpback whales to carry out both of these important activities. From December to April every year you will be able to observe male humpback whales competing for a female's attention, mothers teaching their calves how to dive, and if you are very lucky a calf that has just been born.
This incredible annual winter event has captivated Native Hawaiians for centuries. Did you know that over 50% of the North Pacific humpback whale population makes its way to Hawaii during the winter months?
