Haleakala is the highest point on Maui at 10,023 feet above sea level. Flying to the summit will allow you to see the Upcountry region on the slopes of the mountain as well as inside the crater itself. In Hawaiian, Haleakala means “House of the Sun”

Along the coastline headed out to Hana, be on the lookout for the Keanae Peninsula jutting out into the ocean. While it may look beautiful from the air, this is certainly not a place where you would want to swim due to the constant waves and jagged black rocks. Keep an eye out for the Keanae Congregational Church, which was the only building to remain after a devastating tsunami destroyed the rest of the village in 1946.

Hana

Hana is the name of the town nestled in the jungle’s of Maui’s East Side, but the name is also applied to the entire region. Hana is as rugged as it is beautiful, and from a helicopter you will be able to see the it’s unspoiled beauty on full display. Be prepared to see waterfalls, jungles, and coastal cliffs!

Description

Be sure to arrive at the Kahului Airport 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time to check-in, meet your pilot, and receive safety instructions. Upon takeoff, you will gain altitude rapidly on your way up the gentle rolling slopes of Haleakala. After reaching the summit, you will be treated to views of the unique and otherworldly landscape inside the dormant volcano’s crater. Some have compared it to the surface of Mars, others to the Moon, but the bottom line is you have probably never seen anything like it!

The second half of the tour will be spent flying over the jungles and coastal areas of Hana. Though Hana is one of Maui’s most famous regions, it’s so large and rugged that it can be difficult to see all this magical area has to offer in one day. From the air, however, you will be able to check out jungles, bamboo forests, waterfalls, coastal cliffs and much much more from hundreds of feet in the air. Once you and your party have thoroughly explored Hana, your pilot will head back towards Kahului to land.

No - the only camera device allowed on our “Door’s Off” flight is a CELL PHONE. Air Maui will provide lanyards upon check-in.
Is There An Age Limit For This Flight?

Yes, 10yrs and older. Travelers who sit on the edge seating MUST be 16yrs and older.
Are Sandals That Strap Around My Feet Okay?

Yes, as long as your footwear is secured to your foot either around your ankle or to your heel. Sneakers/close toes shoes would be preferable and more comfortable.
Are We Able To Secure The Two Front Seats?

Yes, we do offer the two front seats as an additional purchase of $50.00 per person, $100.00 per couple. They can only be purchased as a pair and there is a weight restriction of 380lbs combined.

How Many Passengers Do You Hold On Your Helicopter?

We accommodate up to 6 passengers. Weight depending.
Do You Offer A Media Package And Is It Cheaper If You Pay Cash?

Yes, we do offer media packages when you return from your flight. And yes, we do offer a cash discount of $60.00 or $74.95 on a credit card.
What Is The Difference Between The West Maui Molokai Tour And The West Maui And Molokai (Special) Tour?

The West Maui Molokai Special flight is only 45min and the regular tour is 60min. You will see and fly over more areas on the 60min tour than you would on the 45min tour.
How Far In Advance Should I Make My Reservation?

We recommend booking your flight 1-2 weeks before your desired date. If you are a large group of people (6+) it is better to book 3-4 weeks in advance.
Why Do I Need To Purchase A Comfort Seat And How Much Does It Cost?

Due to the fact that helicopters are weight sensitive we are limited on the amount of weight available per person. Our weight restrictions are either per person or per couple. For a single person weighing 240 lbs or more a comfort seat is needed. If a couple’s combined weight is or exceeding 420 lbs a comfort seat needs to be purchased. The cost for the comfort see is the same price as a regular seat.
What Is The Price For Children/Toddlers?

It is an FAA requirement that any child that has reached their second birthday is occupied in their own seat. The price for children 2+ years old is the same as a regular seat. If your child is under 2 years old they are considered to be a lap child and are allowed to go at no additional charge.
Can We Sit In The Two Front Seats?

Yes, the two front seats can be reserved, but it will result in an additional purchase of $50 per person or $100 per couple. It should also be noted that if the seats are purchased by a couple their combined weight must be under 380 lbs.
Why Are We Told To Wear Dark Clothing?

While dark clothing certainly isn’t a requirement, we always recommend guests wear dark clothing so there are fewer reflections on the cabin windows while they are taking pictures.
Should I Book My Flight In Advance?

Yes, we recommend booking your helicopter tour 1 - 2 weeks ahead of your trip.
What Is Included In The Beach Proposal Package?

This package includes a roundtrip helicopter flight through the West Maui mountains as well as a personalized proposal on the beach below, champagne for two, and a professional media package.
How Long Does The Beach Proposal Last?

The trip takes approximately 3 hours in total and guests are required to check in half an hour before departure.
What Are The Weight Restrictions For This Flight?

Individual and couple weight limits differ. A comfort seat must be purchased if a single person weighs over 240 pounds or if the combined weight of a couple exceeds 420 lbs. The price of a comfort seat is the same as that of a regular seat purchase.
