Haleakala & The Park

Haleakala is a dormant volcano that makes up much of Maui’s landmass. It is said that Haleakala, meaning "house of the sun," was named by the demigod Maui after he lassoed the sun and dragged it down from the sky to slow its journey across the heavens. The 10,023-foot summit is often shrouded in clouds, lending an ethereal beauty to the landscape. Description

A highlight for most visitors to Maui—if not all of Hawaii—is experiencing a guided bike tour down Maui’s dormant volcano – Haleakala. Guests can enjoy this experience in an active way. Bike from the 6,500′ down various sections of the mountain (you may even get to do the fun parts twice).

From our Office, we will transport guests to the 6,500′ level and your tour guide will provide you with the history of Haleakala, its geology, and the rare plants and animals found only on Maui. Watch the predawn colors from this location, and then you’ll be fitted with a bicycle and helmet to start your guided bike ride.

Pedal downhill, riding along switchbacks, through Haleakala Ranch. We will pick you up and take you back up the mountain for another ride on the same route. After enjoying the ride, we will drive you down to the town of Makawao where you can enjoy the town and grab some food. We will get back on the bikes and take the final ride to the office in the beach town of Paia. A great way to spend the morning.

Any request for a refund 72 hours or more prior to the start of the tour or activity is honored with a full refund.

No refunds are issued for any cancellations inside the 72-hour period, prior to the start of your tour. There is no refund for no-shows. There is no charge for date change or tour change based on tour availability outside of the 72-hour cancellation period.

If I’m Not Confident In My Ability To Ride The Bike From The Start, Can I Ride Along In The Van For A Bit?

Your guides will always stop and accommodate you if you feel like getting back on the bike or in the van at any point during the tour.
How Many Photo Opportunities Will There Be?

You will have ample opportunities to take photographs throughout the morning at the summit, on the switchbacks, and at the meal stop. If you would like to make a special request, don't hesitate to ask your guides. The scenic views are also amazing at Paia Beach Park where we'll end our ride.
Do I Have To Wear Safety Gear?

Although gloves and a windbreaker are not required, you must wear closed-toed shoes and a helmet.
