WEST MAUI ADVENTURE
Circle The West Maui Mountains
The West Maui Adventure is a private tour that takes you on a full-circle journey around the second of Maui's two dormant volcanoes. You'll see incredible coastal views, windswept cliffs, a natural blowhole, and much more. The northern coast of West Maui contains landscapes that you won't find anywhere else on the island, and we are excited to share this experience with you and your group. This is the perfect tour for those who want to see all West Maui has to offer!
A blowhole is a hole in the ground that leads to an underwater cave that is partially submerged. When the ocean rises or waves smash against it, a forceful jet of water and air shoots out through the hole. One such blowhole at Nakalele Point has been dazzling locals and tourists alike for decades with its incredibly powerful blasts of seawater. Be sure to enjoy this unique natural phenomenon from a safe distance.
The island of Maui is made up of two separate dormant volcanoes. Haleakala, the highest point on East Maui, rises to 10,023 feet. The West Maui shield volcano, by contrast, erupted a million years ago and at the highest point only reaches 5,788 feet. Hundreds of thousands of years of stream-cutting, landslides, and other erosion processes have created the extremely steep—and utterly magnificent—West Maui Mountains that we know and love today.
Lahaina was once known as Lele, which means “relentless sun” in Hawaiian. Today, it is a historic town that has been transformed into a Maui hotspot with dozens of art galleries and a variety of unique shops and restaurants. Lahaina was once the capital of the Hawaiian Kingdom and a legendary whaling town in the mid-nineteenth century. Lahaina was a popular stop for sailors from as many as 400 ships who visited to take leave, including Herman Melville, who chronicled the era in his famous novel Moby Dick. As you stroll down the lively Front Street of Lahaina, which is ranked one of the “Top Ten Greatest Streets” by the American Planning Association, you can still get a feel for old Lahaina.
