Journey through history with us and explore two dive sites that are only accessible to certified and experienced divers.
Two or three times per month, this tour offers divers an opportunity to see a piece of history that few people ever get to see. The plane, a Curtiss SB2C-1 Helldiver, has been sitting on the ocean floor since August 31, 1944 and is in surprisingly good condition considering its age. The tail fin is the only part of the plane that is completely missing. The pilot, William E. Dill, and radioman Kenneth W. Jobe were both rescued in 1944 right after the crash, but the plane was obviously never recovered.
The Triple Anchors dive site is located just off the coast of South Maui. This hidden gem is perfect for divers of all levels, as it offers something for everyone. The anchors lie in 65 feet of water, and the history behind the site is quite interesting. It is believed that the anchors were used as a degaussing station for large Naval cruisers during WWII. The procedure was intended to lessen the electrical pull that the ships had on magnetic floating mines that were scattered throughout the Pacific Ocean. Three large anchors are moored with heavy chains to a central cement block of unusually large size. The anchors and cement block are covered in a variety of corals and marine life, making it a beautiful and enjoyable dive.

This tour is ideal for certified divers with good buoyancy control. The Helldiver and Triple Anchors dive sites are both in the 50-60 foot range and sit in soft silty sand. These dives are perfect for square profile diving and nitrox certified divers. You're sure to see plenty of fish and macro life at these sites.
After everyone is geared up and in the water, your guide will head down about 50 feet so you can check out the remains of a mostly intact WWII-era Curtiss SB2C-1 Helldiver plane. The aircraft was abandoned all the way back in 1944 and has laid on the sandy ocean floor ever since. From there, you will head down to 60 feet to lay your eyes on the dive site known as 'Triple Anchors'. The reason it's called that will become quite obvious as soon as you see the three huge anchors attached to long chains rising from the ocean floor. As the tour concludes, you will head back to the surface to reboard the boat.
